On the bright and warm Sunday morning of June 4th, 2006, 38 supporters and friends of the Zienzele Foundation laced up their walking boots and set off on a 10 kilometer stroll. The participants had been raising sponsorship for more than a month from friends and family in the Kyoto, Japan, area, and were keen to get going and complete their mission.
The walk took the participants up and down the north and south banks of the beautiful Kamogawa River in the heart of Kyoto, and then on to a fine buffet lunch in McLoughlin's Irish Bar and Restaurant, prepared by owner/chef Tadg McLoughlin.
The merry band of walkers, old and young, were a truly international gathering with representatives from Japan, Korea, England, America, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. When the hard work was done, and the total sponsorship calculated, we were very happy to see we had collected over US $6,500!
Everybody agreed they could think of no finer way to spend a Sunday morning, and they look forward to repeating the event next year.
